RHEINZINK-prePATINA - The world's only naturally pre-weathered surfaces
All RHEINZINK titanium zinc products exceed the requirements of EN 988 and are in accordance with the stringent TÜV Rheinland certified QUALITY ZINC criteria catalogue. The sheets and strips of the prePATINA Line are available in blue-grey and graphite-grey.
Only RHEINZINK has a special process in which the blue-grey or graphite-grey colour of the natural patina is achieved naturally in production. As the inventors, we did call this unique pickling process “pre-weathering“. Virtually imperceptible to the human eye, atmospheric influences over time create a natural protective patina over time that protects the product reliably.
RHEINZINK is a unique material that can be used in different climate zones around the world. Its use on world renowned projects highlights the importance this material plays in specifies portfolio of materials. Once installed it can be left to stand the test of time and requires almost no maintenance. The formation and look of the patina depend on the local climate and the impact of rainwater on the surface. Areas that are not fully exposed to the elements such as protected facades or soffits will weather differently and surface staining may occur.
The salty atmosphere of the Irish climate can have an influence on all surfaces including zinc. RHEINZINK-prePATINA Line material forms surface deposits due to the salt in the air and runoff from rainwater. These will integrate into the natural patina and become part of the patination process as the material weathers. On our darker material RHEINZINK-prePATINA graphite-grey these deposits are more visible. They will not affect the function or expected service life of the material when used on roofs, facades or other clad components, but can look unsightly over time. We cannot control these weathering patterns and care should be taken when using these darker materials.
On request, sheets and strips of RHEINZINK-prePATINA blue-grey can be delivered with a protective plastic film which is always applied on RHEINZINK-prePATINA graphite-grey sheets and strips. This product line includes the RHEINZINK roof drainage system as well as the RHEINZINK product range for roofing and façade cladding including specific service profiles.
